Loma del Medio and the Indian Head See map

To reach the Cabeza del Indio lookout is necessary to take Azcuénaga Street two blocks north of the Plaza Pagano toward Quemquemtreu river where is the only bridge you can cross by car.

A bit of walking along the winding main road without deviating into side streets there is a very good view of the Valle Nuevo (El Bolsón). Below is a bifurcation: the entrance on the left leads to Azul River campground and the circuit of the birth of the Loma del Medio and the right leads to the lookout.

A few meters ahead there is another deviation that should be taken right again agreeing to the crest of the Loma del Medio  which separates the valley of El Bolson from the Azul River Valley. Here begins the incomparable view of the Valle Azul and a few steps from the special viewpoint of El Bolson. From the Loma you obtain spectacular views to both sides.

This circuit can be done by car, foot or exciting tours by bicycle or horse. At the top there are west-facing rock walls that stand out for their curious shapes, among which is a sector which seen side face looks like a human head known as Cabeza del Indio (Indian Head).

The trail's difficulty level is low and can be made at any time of year. We recommend comfortable shoes and visit the Escondida Waterfall along the Azul River.
