Punta Bandera Naval detachment See map

The Punta Bandera Argentina Naval Prefecture detachment is located 45 kilometers from El Calafate. Since its creation in 1978, the detachment provides professional services.

The Prefecture go on patrol in the lakes Viedma, Argentino, Desierto and San Martín, in order to maintain the security of navigation in passenger ships. Thousands of tourists arrive each year to the lakes area between October and May, so Prefecture works to make them feel safe on public transport.

In this area there are many residences that make small towns on the shore of the lakes. Are far from the city center, which makes them difficult to reach. So that's where Coast Guard performs civic services, acting as mail, transportation and trying to cover all the needs thats possible.
