Historic-Cultural Center Paraje Confluencia See map

The Historic-Cultural Center "Paraje Confluencia" is located in the city of Neuquén and is part of the monuments that recall the early settlers of the city. It also has samples of the peoples who inhabited the area 10,000 years ago.

This cultural center works in three houses that had been part of the Colony 6 of the Traffic staff of the former District Ferroviario from the Railway Roca. The arrival of the railway in the early twentieth century was the impetus for the institutional development of the capital of Neuquén as it allowed the union between Chos Malal and Neuquén putting an end to isolation for the people of the region. These houses were built by the Ferrocarril del Sud Company in the 30's. The municipality of Neuquén began the restoration works in 1998 to leave the houses in the original condition.

Today this center contains a library and reading room and three rooms for exhibitions. Samples exposed human, animal and plant fossils remains. The age of the remains was established by carbon-14 method. One of the most important pieces of the exhibition is a tissue, unique in its kind in America.

The Cultural Center "Paraje Confluencia" is located at the Central Park, in the intersection of Córdoba and Independencia streets. There are guided tours and it is open from Monday through Friday from 9 to 18 hours and on weekends and holidays from 18 to 22 hours.
