How to get to Río Grande See map

By National Route 3, 68 km south (15 km paved 53 km unpaved) to the Integration Pass Austral (border with Chile) where you must submit the documentation. From this area you enter the Republic of Chile, you drive 43 km paved (half road) along national route 255 (Ch) to the junction of National Route 257 (Ch) at Punta Delgada (15 km paved). At this point, known as the Primera Angostura, you address the ferry across the Strait of Magellan and disembark at the Azul Bay on the coast of Tierra del Fuego. It is recommended to check the ferry crossing times and disruption of service by low tide. From there, you go 148 km unpaved to Pass San Sebastian where you enter Argentina. Finally it remains 81 km paved by National Route 3 to reach Río Grande city.

  • City of Punta Arenas (Chile)

By National Route 225 (Chile), 168 km paved to the junction of National Route 257 (Chile) at Punta Delgada (15 km paved).   • City of Porvenir (Chile)

142 km of unpaved road to Pass San Sebastian where you enter to Argentina, there you must present documentation. Since there are 81 km paved by National Route 3 to reach Río Grande city. 

  • Area of Lago Blanco (Chile) By Pass Bella Vista

Enabled Pass from November 1st to April 30. After submitting the documentation in the National Gendarmerie, you enter Argentina for Complementary Route "B" traveling 70 km unpaved until the junction with National Route 3. From this area it remains 15 km paved up to Río Grande city.

By National Route 3, you go a total of 222 km (25 km paved to 80 km unpaved), to the town of Tolhuin and then 107 km paved up to Río Grande city.
