On November it is held the International Boat Raid of Tierra del Fuego, the most important sailing event in the province, in the city of Río Grande.
With a total length of nearly 170 kilometers, the journey begins in Section Río Grande near Lake Blanco in the Republic of Chile. The first stage ends at Farm Aurelia (Argentina), where participants stay overnight in the armed camp for that purpose. The tour ends in front of the Nautical Club Ioshlelk Oten, which organizes the event.
The International Boat Raid of Tierra del Fuego consists of the sailing to oar from Section Río Grande near Lake Blanco (Chile) that ends after three stages in the mouth of the homonymous river in the Atlantic Ocean. It is an important event for the city of Río Grande and the province of Tierra del Fuego because athletes from all over the country and other countries participates. It also expresses the spirit of cooperation that exists between Argentina and Chile as its route links the two countries.
The first Boat Raid took place in 1991 and had a call for almost ninety Argentine and Chilean rowers and a kayaker of Scotland and one from the United States. In 1992 the "Nautical Club Ioshlelk Oten" was found, whose name means "friend of water" in Shelk'nam language, ethnic group that ruled the northern territories of the big island of Tierra del Fuego.
This event also aims to promote the natural beauty of the province.
