Wind Buggies See map

Before handing out diplomas to twelve students of the school, kids around seven to sixteen, Pablo Reyes thinks about the things he did and the dreams he keep. "I think the wind resource we have to use it", he says while we listen some voices of the guys who choose to stay even if the activity is complete.

Carrovelismo en Rada TillyRada Tilly's beaches are wind buggy's symbol of the Patagonia.

Wind Buggy School started in 2000 in Rada Tilly. But the pleasure of practicing the sport fro Reyes began when he was 10 years and he drove for the first time "El Pirincho". It was a car built by hand, heavy wood. He had a happy ending. After that day at the beach, 1975, the story was cut and the car fell asleep on top of a roof anchor until ten years later, Pablo was encouraged. Since then he continue to practice this hobby taking increased commitments. He is an entrepreneur of petroleum engineering and invest their free time and money in the wind buggy. "Everything is done by myself. I have no official support," says calm and confident that one day will realize that the wind buggy goes beyond the sport itself.

In every international event a large amount of money stays in the city that's hosting and in the country.

He remember that in 1990 they came to collect twenty-five cars in this area

"We had evolved but we had very heavy cars. ... Suddenly started to decline (activity) when the economic problems started between 1990 and 1992."

About its first participation in the Argentine Championship says:

"... We find a different world ... ... aluminum aerodynamic structures ... do not know it was so evolved. We went ninth, for us it was awesom".

Escuela de Carrovelismo en Rada Tilly"If the weather is nice you enjoy the beach and if the weather is nice for us (windy) you surf!", saysReyes.

Since that initial competition in "la Pampa del Leoncito" in San Juan, he has traveled, know and competed in other countries. Belgium, Germany and France surprised him. Belgium is the country that saw the sport birth a hundred years ago and with a book they celebrate the centenary with a gallery of photos and engravings that show the reader images of cars over time. Pablo's surprise was to recognize the picture that closes the book is a photo of Rada Tilly he showed around the world. With enthusiasm he want that wind buggy become as popular as it is in Europe. So he bet on the Wind Buggy School. So he bet on a factory of sailing cars here in these lands and dreams about sailing projects.

He explains that the World Championship takes place in Europe. That's the big question that non-European countries do to the Federation. That is why the World Cup appeared to run out the old continent.

The ambassador position does not exist in Patagonia but this young man is the ambassador of this sport because where he go he takes his photos and videos to introduce and promote the beauty of its locations. He tells that Australia, New Zealand and the USA were candidates for the offices of the '97 world championship and I proposed Rada Tilly as representative of Argentina. I said the word "Patagonia" which I think was the magic word. Rada Tilly unanimously came out as number one candidate. Finally, the championship was held in Australia. The organization and infrastructure that was offered was not enough to meet the stated objectives of the International Wind Buggy Federation.

Thanks to his perseverance Rada Tilly was already known in this world so unique and will not be very far off that the World Cup is run here.

"This is a superb beach. If the weather is nice you enjoy it and if the weather is nice for us (windy) you surf!"

Pablo is married and his wife accompanies him everywhere. He did all his studies in Comodoro Rivadavia. He want his child to also love this sport. Among its major projects is the manufacture and export of competition cars.
