National Petroleum Museum

Museo Nacional del Petróleo de ComodoroNational Petroleum Museum: true heritage of Comodoro and Argentina.

Located in San Lorenzo street between Viedma and Carlos Calvo, 3 km from the city of Comodoro Rivadavia, is considered one of the three largest in the world, along with Russians and the ones in United States. It has a sampling of what is known in the oil subject, as well as rooms with photographs, tools and explanatory models.

It was created in 1987 by YPF (Fiscal Oilfields), in which can be seen from the formation of oil to the same process of extracting, the different phases of oil exploitation, through valuable pieces, such as machinery, equipment, tools and materials. You will also find the remains of the original equipment FAUCK express from which emerged the 1st oil jet on December 13, 1907.

Antonio Garcés Patagonian Regional Museum

It is located in Rivadavia and Chacabuco, in the center of the city. It all representative treasures of the environment and history of Comodoro. Located in the building that formerly were the public baths of the city, which was restored by the municipality. It has information on geology, anthropology, flora and fauna of Patagonia, indigenous instruments and collection of old photographs.

It opens from Monday through Friday from 9am to 6pm, Saturday and holidays from 11am to 6pm and admission is free. For more information you can contact them by telephone: (0297) 447 101.

Military Historical Museum "Fortin Chacabuco"

Located on the campus of 8 Infantry Regiment, 11 km from the center of the city center. In this museum you can see the reviews of Campaigns and liberating expedition, weapons of that era, historic uniforms, books and photographs that tell the story by the Mechanized Infantry Regiment 8, Base of Logistics Support and Communications Company 9 with seat of peace within the city.

There is also the monument to General O 'Higgins, whose name the Regiment, the Monument to the Fallen in the Malvinas war and the monument to Falucho soldier.

Visiting hours are Monday through Friday from 9:30am to 12:30pm and 3:30pm to 6pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30am to 12:30pm. Admission is free. For more information you can call (0297) 4549162.

Museum of Paleontology Astra

It is just before you reach where the company ASTRA SA has its Management office at 20 km north of the city.

This is the only paleontology museum in the area in addition to historical elements used in the oil industry. Visiting this museum is a must for any visitor who wants to know more intimately our Patagonia. Visiting hours will be held on Saturdays and Sundays from 3pm to 6pm.

Museum of Mining and Geology

Located in the coastal fringe of downtown. In it can be seing everything related to minerals, rocks and fossils, with the assistance of specialists in the field guides that make it very enjoyable visit. This museum is small so it is recommended that the number of visitors does not exceed 5 persons, so that in this way can take advantage of a more appropriate space. This museum is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 1pm. Admission is free.

CEPTur (Exhibition and Tourism Promotion Center)

Located in Hipólito Yrigoyen and Mariano Moreno, the former building of Port Plant, integrates the so call Ferroportuario Museum, which comprises a series of buildings of great cultural historical importance for the city of Comodoro Rivadavia.

In it, during a guided tour will appreciate the beauty of a building completely recycled for tourism, which conserves within its historical displays, part of the machinery used in mid-1930. Office hours are Monday through Saturday from 9am to 9 pm and Sunday from 1pm to 9pm. Free admission.

Historical Circuit "Ferroportuario"

This tour includes a set of buildings located in the town of Comodoro. The walk begins at the former Plant of Port of Comodoro Rivadavia, which is currently the Ceptur (Exhibition Center and Tourism Promotion), declared it a national historic landmark and provincial heritage. Then continue on the historic facilities for port, through the warehouses of the port, the housing staff in 1932, water tanks, pump house, and the shops of the port.

The tour includes visits to the former Railway Station, located on Avenida Rivadavia and 9 de Julio, which was the means of communication with Sarmiento facilitating economic and social development in the area, and finally passes through the port the city that has a modern infrastructure for the period. This tour can be done for free during the hours from Monday to Friday from 8am to 7pm, Saturday and holidays from 3pm to 7pm.
